No Boogaloo for Ahmaud???

If you’ve glanced at social media, especially gun related social media, in the past couple days you’ve probably seen a bunch of posts lamenting the fact there was/is no Boogaloo for Ahmaud.

Why? Let’s talk about it

So, the easy answer…and the true answer is: Because it all happened too fast and from what I’ve heard and seen, Ahmaud didn’t make an appeal for help on social media as the event was unfolding.

To be honest, even if he had, I doubt any of us would have been able to respond in time.

Unlike the other, not to be named here individual; Ahmaud was not involved in a hours long stand-off where he controlled the narrative, passionately pushed his side of the story, and appealed for assistance against supposed tyranny.

Ahmaud didn’t know he was a victim of tyranny, he probably just figured he was dealing with the racism he’d endured all his life and this would be another one of those disconcerting and terrifying high water marks.

For those of you trying to make the events surrounding Ahmaud a racist issue in the 2A community,

SHAME ON YOU.

While I am sure bigotry exists in the community, I have not seen overwhelming evidence or displays. Furthermore I have not seen any evidence Ahmaud was part of our community (this does not mean he does not need or deserve our attention and protection, it simply means most of us were completely unaware of this gentleman until a couple days ago when this story lit up the media, again).

This IS a racist issue, but it is NOT a racist issue within the 2A community. I repeat: Ahmaud deserved and needed our protection and we were not there to offer it. Ahmaud deserves and needs justice and we can and should be there to ensure it happens.

Now is not time for a boogaloo as it would only distract from the real need, which is justice for Ahmaud.

Justice for Ahmaud Abery

Now is the time for us to evaluate our communities and make sure an event like this cannot happen in our neighborhood.

If and only if the authorities in Georgia drop the ball and try to sweep this under the rug a second time do we call for a boogaloo.

A boogaloo I, for one, will be a part of.

How about you?
